I realize this entire site is a blog and even my so-called forum has turned into a sub-blog. Nonetheless, I have been waiting awhile to set up a real bloggy blog. So here it is.
Even though I think about it from time to time, I have yet to do an FAQ for this site or mekerr.com. However, I will tell you where to find answers to some FAQs:
1) For my definition of pop culture: go to The Pop Culture Addict’s Guide to Finishing a Dissertation and click on menu.
2) Dandy Warhols’ We Used to Be Friends mp3, aka theme to Veronica Mars, is available at: digthemovie.com. I put more info on the Pop Culture Addict’s message board.
3) Occum’s Razon, Pound of Flesh, Bonfire of Vanities are all under Pop Books or go to Pop Guide and look under recent additions.
4) And how could I forget my response to this surprisingly popular query: What’s up with the short Johnny Depp and Gibby Haynes made of John Frusciante? Well, I’ve never seen it. I only saw that sad footage some Dutch tv crew got of him in his depths of despair. But let’s not dwell on the old John Frusciante. Let’s revel in his “phoenix from the flames” rebirth, as Anthony Kiedis described it. This is where you can read all I know about the short: Johnny Depp on John Frusciante.
EDIT: Actually, I have seen this short and can point you in the right direction to watch and/or dl it yourself. Read all about it here: Stuff: Johnny Depp’s short on John Frusciante .
5) Occasionally you ask me about my use of “aka” in the title of the site: The Pop Culture Addict’s Guide to Finishing a Dissertation (a.k.a. Cool Stuff I Like). I know “aka” or “also known as” refers to aliases like in your most wanted profile (let’s hope you don’t have one) like the one Leonardo DiCaprio’s character (Frank Abagnole, Jr.) in “Catch Me If You Can” had. And I always liked that Judy Blume Book: Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great. But as I contribute to the mish mosh of grammatical correctness of on-line English, I have chosen to use “aka” to further explain what this site is about. Wow, that was a long explanation for three letters. Ah, the windbaggedness of this pop culture addict never fails to amaze.
